Respected League of Conservation Voters Endorses Keith Brown’s Candidacy for the 12th Assembly District

NORTHPORT, NY- Candidate for NYS Assembly, Keith Brown, is thrilled to announce he received the endorsement this week from the New York League of Conservation Voters.  Brown’s endorsement is based on his strong commitment to cleaning up the Long Island Sound, fighting against climate change and controlling pollution to keep Long Island communities healthy into the future.

LCV released its list of endorsed candidates this month with backing only nine -non-incumbent candidates across New York state, including Brown as a candidate for AD12. The LCV’s Voters Action Fund’s endorsement program seeks to elect environmental champions who will address the climate crisis and advance a more equitable clean energy future. The LCV team evaluates candidates’ policy positions to endorse candidates who can win and who will fight to protect our air, water and health.

“As New York continues to fight the immediate health crisis, we must stay vigilant in our fight against the climate crisis and pollution…” said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “…We believe these candidates will be strong advocates for our environment and we urge voters to support them in their upcoming election.”

Brown is recognized for his lifetime commitment to environmental issues, including the restoration and protection of Long Island’s precious ecological resources.

“I am very humbled to receive the League of Conservation Voters endorsement and am fully committed to cleaning up the Long Island Sound and restoring the once vibrant billion-dollar shell fishing industry to Towns like Northport and Huntington,” Brown stated. “If they can clean up Boston Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay and protect the Maryland crab industry, we can clean up the LI Sound.”

Brown’s advocacy for environmental includes the founding of the Touro Environmental Journal and his work for the Center for Environmental Law in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm.

“I will fight in Albany to keep our natural resources available for future generations and ensure that our communities, businesses and homes are safe from harmful pollution.  Environmental Conservation is an issue we can all agree on and New York needs to stay relevant and be at the forefront by creating green jobs for young men and women to keep them from moving away.”

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is an American environmental advocacy group. For more than 50 years the LCV advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, holds elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and elects pro-environment candidates.
