WEIK ENDORSED BY NYC DETECTIVES
Law Enforcement Standing Behind Candidate Who’s Vowed to Stop the Attacks on Police
Alexis Weik, Republican-Conservative candidate for the State Senate’s 3rd District, today was endorsed by the Detectives Endowment Association, representing 19,000 current and retired NYPD detectives.
The endorsement adds to a growing list of support by law enforcement for Weik, the wife, and mother of police officers, who have now gained endorsements by members of seven police agencies.
“As a member of a police family, ‘backing the blue’ has always been a priority for me, and so I am humbled and proud to receive the support of the dedicated men and women who work every day to keep our communities safe,” said Weik.
“These professionals know that, as Senator, I will champion the kind of common-sense reforms that promote public safety and build respect for the law and law enforcers, starting with repealing the disastrous bail laws supported by my opponent and others in the defund and anti-police movements,” Weik said.
“As the mother of a member of our law enforcement community, we trust that you will fight for the needs and concerns of New York’s blue-collar laborers, especially those who proudly wear the shield of the NYPD,” said DEA President Paul DiGiacomo.
“We look forward to working closely and productively with you on any and all issues that affect organized labor and law enforcement.”
Weik has previously been endorsed by the Suffolk County PBA, Superior Officers Association, Corrections Officers Association, Probation Officers Association, the Suffolk County Police Conference, and the Suffolk County Detectives Association. Her husband is a longtime Suffolk County police officer and her son serves as a patrolman in the NYPD.
Weik currently serves at the elected Receiver of Taxes in the Town of Islip and is seeking to represent the 3rd Senate District, comprising parts of the Towns of Brookhaven and Islip.
