Senator Phil Boyle joined with the four candidates for New York State Senate to demand that the leadership of PSEG Long Island immediately reimburse families who lost food and medicine due to the utility’s power outage failure. The GOP calls for PSEG-LI’s management to immediately follow the lead of Con Ed which announced that they would reimburse their customers for the losses caused by outages that lasted over 48 hours.

The five members of the future Suffolk Senate Republican Delegation also called on Long Island’s Democratic Senate delegation to get more involved in the effort to protect Long Island ratepayers. While the Senate Democrats have been issuing public statements and scheduling hearings, there has been a clear lack of action and Long Islanders need everyone in public office to fight for them.

Following this week’s meaningless hearing on the nursing home COVID-19 debacle, the Suffolk County Republican Committee again joined together to call for an independent hearing into the travesty. As many are well aware, missteps by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) throughout the ongoing health crisis contributed directly to the death of 6,500 of our state’s seniors by requiring nursing homes and assisted living facilities to readmit COVID-19 positive residents even though this put other residents and staff at a higher risk of infection.

But, during the hearing, the Senate and Assembly Democrats allowed NYSDOH Commissioner Howard Zucker to present a PowerPoint which offered the same talking points that the administration has spewed since the crisis began and to avoid taking full responsibility for the issue that the NYSDOH’s policy caused. The Democratic hearing, which was conducted virtually, resulted in an endless amount of dialogue which delivered absolutely no answers for the families of those who died from the state’s reckless policies.

Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo, candidate for state Senate in the 1st District, today called on his opponent, Laura Ahearn, to stand in solidarity with local law enforcement and prosecutors by rejecting the endorsement of the Working Families Party. Last month, the Working Families Party made defunding and eliminating local police a cornerstone of its 2020 campaign agenda.
